Atom", "Adam?", "Atom", "Adam?", "Atom","Adam?".... This week will be the smallest lesson we've had yet. We'll be talking about the building blocks that make up the physical world, atoms. What are they? How do they make us and what makes them?
STEM
This week we are looking at light and all that it really is! This includes not just the rainbow and how it works, but the ‘invisible’ spectrum too (ultra-violet/infrared). We will be doing a live "experiment" around sound waves and vibration. I hope it resonates!
Zoom time: Tuesday at 2 p.m. on Mr. Max's Zoom. Please email Ms. Ossenfort or myself if you do not have the password or code written down! STEM
In an effort to utilize the T in STEM (Technology), we will be doing a live experiment during our zoom meeting together. Any necessary materials will be sent out via See-Saw prior to class. On Tuesday we will be reviewing satellites while introducing GPS and how it works.
Thursday we will be talking about the difference between chemical and physical changes. Tuesday: Review on Satellites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvFxEYjQPPM How GPS Works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCcARVbL_Dk A neat GPS based game they can play (it’s kind of like a global treasure hunt) They are not required to do it just something I thought was neat. It also comes as an App: https://www.geocaching.com/play Thursday: Video on Chemical change vs physical change: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37pir0ej_SE Video on interesting chemical changes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb4CMnT2-ao Another extra video with more details (not required): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZGULLWEy1c Check Seesaw for assignments! In Stem this week we will be looking at everything you would want to know about satellites. How do they stay up there? What is GPS? How many are there really?
Check Seesaw on Tuesday for your required tasks. -Mr. Max This week in Stem we will be working on our 'victory' gardens. Each student has been sent seeds with the rest of their school supplies. We will be discussing all the necessary parts to successful plant cultivation including soil type, spacing, watering, and nutrient requirements. They are welcome to plant them wherever is most convenient and keep track of their progress. Later we will cover the topics of thinning, trimming and hopefully picking but for today we will just cover the first steps towards turning your thumb green!
